Classic Apple Butter

  • 5 apples of your choice, we used Honeycrisp
  • 2 cups white cane sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 ½ tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp salt


  • Peel, remove core, and dice up the apples
  • In a pot over medium heat add the apples, both sugars, cinnamon, ground cloves, and salt. Stir well and let cook 3-5 minutes with the lid on.
  • Remove lid and you should see some of the water now filling the pot from the apples, stir once more, lower heat and let cook with the lid on but not sealed to let some of the steam escape. Let cook 1 hour
  • Remove the apples from the heat and let cool 15 minutes. Pour the apple mixture into a blender and blend until all apple chunks are smoothed out
  • Store in an airtight container and enjoy!
